Travel to Australia
Canberra is Australia's Capital City. It is an inland rather than a coastal city. The only airlines that regularly fly into Canberra Airport domestically are Qantas, Virgin Australia, and Jetstar. If you are travelling internationally, this means that it would be helpful for you to explore international flights from your country of origin directly to an Australian State capital city such as Sydney or Melbourne with any airline. Sydney is the closest capital city to Canberra. This will likely be the most cost-effective way for you to travel to the conference.
From Sydney, you can travel onto Canberra in several ways: by plane (about a 40 minute flight), by bus (about 3 hours), by train (about 4 hours), or by private car (about 3-4 hours).
From Sydney's international airport you can also catch a Murrays Bus which offers regular departures and pick-ups from the Airport. You will need to book a bus ticket and also allow yourself enough time to get through Australian Customs and Immigration (probably 1-2 hours at least). The bus is very cost-effective and comfortable with allocated seats. It will bring you right into the heart of Canberra and it offers you a very relaxed way to enjoy the Australian countryside.
There is also a train which runs from Sydney to Canberra and takes about four (4) hours. There is a daily service.
